Welcome to the Ware Family Center! The family center is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30,
on the second floor of the United Church of Ware on Church Street. Parents and caregivers remain with their children during
the two-hour, drop-in playgroup, where children play together with puzzles, blocks and games; join in organized crafts and
read-alouds; and run around during outdoor play.
Families are encouraged drop a $2 donation in the donation
can on their way in, but we welcome all families regardless of their ability to pay. The family center is governed by a Parent Advisory Committee that meets monthly and is open to any parent involved in the center.
In addition to our weekly playgroups, the Family Center offers family fun nights once a month, where families can
enjoy a potluck dinner and children can play games and make crafts. Members of the center also plan a child-free Parents’
Night Out each month.
Children will find plenty to entertain them, with books and toys to explore inside and
a huge sandbox and climbers to enjoy outside. The family center encourages parents to plan a special craft for the children
each Thursday, with staff assistant Maura Balicki coming up with exciting, educational activities on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Milk painting, homemade play-doh sculptures, and nature collages are just a few of the creative ideas the children have explored.
For parents and other caregivers, the family center is a great source of information, ideas and understanding.
The family center will be offering parenting seminars and discussion groups throughout the year.
Funding for the
center and its part-time staff comes from the Hampshire Educational Collaborative, parent donations, and the WFC’s
own fundraisers, such as the popular Tanglewood
Marionettes show. This website is still under construction! For more information, call us at 413-967-8127
